About me

Best regards,
I'm Alina,
psychologist,
Psychodramatist in training (ARPsiC),
licensed coach specialising in sports dance (CNFPA) since 2010,
former national champion in standard formations (5 dances) in 2005
and I have 10+ years of practice and continuous training as a dance therapist.

I realised that dance therapy was right for me in 2009 and ever since then I decided and have been dedicated in my educational and professional experience to unite two fields: psychotherapy and dance.

🔶 As a dancer, Over the last 20+ years and after I finished sports performance, I have sought to go through a wide variety of techniques, methods and lifestyle approaches in movement and dance: 5 Rhythms, Biodanza, Authentic Movement, Ecstatic Dance, EYFS Inspirational Dance and Movement (Early Years Foundation Stage) UK, Segni Mossi (dance-drawing) Italy. I searched for the diversity that would train my mind and body towards visions and working practices suited to the beginner's brain, to the inhibition of the non-dreamer, to the client who seeks healing and restructuring of inner psychic reality in direct connection with the body conscious in movement.

I have taken classes, workshops and certifications in Scottish dance, ballet, Argentine tango, body theatre, west coast swing, lindy hop, acroyoga, capoeira.

🔷 As a psychologistSince 2013 I have followed trainings, currents and supervision that have included body, movement and experience in therapy:

ARPDM (Romanian Association of Psychotherapy through Dance and Movement) Creative Supervision, workshops and summer training camp, Imago Relationship Therapy in movement, Transformational Body Tracing, Early Education Workshops and Conferences organised by ISTT (Institute for the Study and Treatment of Trauma), ARPDM and First 7

In 2018 we started the project "Dancing with Alina Vișan", now in its 7th season, and "Form & Stare in Movement" is the signature course, the essence of 10+ years of experience.

At the end of 2024 we opened the studio BodyMind, a space dedicated to movement therapies and training focused on mind-body alliance and health.

I look forward to seeing you in dance and movement,
Alina

MY VALUES PUT INTO PRACTICE dav

I believe in working with the values brought into everyday practice, in and out of the studio

Health

Connection

Since 2003 // Dance performance sports

I really enjoyed my stage as a performing athlete affiliated to the Romanian Federation of Dance Sport from 2003-2011.

Since 2005 // Dancing together

Every year, from spring until late autumn, stories of a couple's experiences come into my room and I translate them into dance steps. The wedding dance in my vision is one that looks as natural as possible, captures the couple's personality and conveys the message of their movements to the audience.

Since 2009 // Early childhood dance and collaborations with Acorns Nursery School, Maria International School of Bucharest and Lindenblute

Education can be sung, danced and organised through play, it can start from the concrete and practical and it can be interdisciplinary. I proposed DANS for early childhood education in 2009, at the beginning of my journey, in 2012 when I had already noticed some constructive directions to integrate into my practice, in 2016 when I met Helen with Music and Movement and in 2019 after the 3 days of the First7 Conference.

From 2010 // Pattern dance and Scottish dance

In 2010, I let a student turned good friend, Wanda Hyde, take me to a Scottish dance workshop. Without setting out to do so, I embarked on a literal and figurative journey into Scottish dance. Between 2011 and 2013, I spent a week each summer at the Summer School in St Andrews, Scotland, for practice and development. Since 2012 I have accepted to be part of the International Team and participate as a dancer in 2 competition demonstrations in the Newcastle Festival, Scotland in February 2013.

From 2013 // Dance and movement therapy

In 2013 I opened this new chapter: psychology through dance. For me dance was and still surprises me how much it is a method of personal development. And there is one more thing: the body never lies. The body does not know how to lie, it expresses exactly who we are. If we learn to decipher it, to listen to it, it can help us to get to know ourselves better and to evolve. Through dance, the body speaks, expresses itself, unburdens itself, experiences, grows.

2009-2020 // Transforming the Dancing ladies course into the DAV pillar "Dance as form"®

The Dance as Form courses have their origins in a course held on demand in 2009 called Dancing Ladies, in which we trained the mind-body interrelationship and aimed at body awareness through choreographies of coordination, symmetry and orientation in space.

From 2021 and beyond// Dancing game and Dancing motherhood

During the pandemic, I started a series of short online challenges, and these are the basis of the new Joc Dans course. Then came motherhood, from which I returned in 2023. In counterpol to taking on
risks as an entrepreneur, is the joy that professionally I am supported by my experience as a man, woman and mother. I bring from home plus the value of the years of motherhood and reciprocally, working in the dance studio nourishes and supports me for the roles at home.

How was your experience with DAV?

Alina is an exceptional therapist. With remarkable gentleness, depth and intuition, she captures what is happening in the therapeutic space and creates structured or free-flowing activities and processes through dance that give you access to yourself. She respects everyone's rhythm and process, always being attentive and connected to your needs and resources in the present. In addition, she has an extraordinary ability to keep your therapeutic journey in mind, making essential connections between what you worked on 2-3 years ago and what you are experiencing and understanding now. This continuity and depth of working together creates a safe space where you feel seen, heard and supported. Alina is a sensitive, gentle, empathic and present witness. Working with her is a joy and a blessing, and the process I'm going through is enormously helpful to me, both personally and professionally. I am deeply grateful for this journey and for the gentle and knowledgeable guidance Alina offers at every step.

2024, Cristina, psychotherapist

Why was it important for you to work with movement, with dance as a therapy?

What I feel can become overwhelming. There are warning signs. They're subtle, but they're there. The more I ignore them, the more intense they become, until nothing can be controlled. I used to not be able to sense why I was getting so angry or upset. As I began to realise how much I have been used to and taught to ignore the sensations and warning signs, (if you can call them that) and as I remained aware in the body, the ,,volcanoes" are not so though. I've got to listen to my body, eat when I'm hungry, drink water before I get a headache. I couldn't do this on my own at first, I was guided and I'm grateful to have heard of dance therapy. It is not easy, but the discomfort is there. It's something I observe with, something I empathise with. I haven't resorted to unhealthy habits for a long time, and this has given me more freedom.

Andreea, 18 years old

Why was it important for you to work with movement, with dance as a therapy?

"In the first modules I discovered that I have a body. Then that I have many blockages in my body. Dance as therapy helps you to access and release them."

Adrian, 38 years old.
